Posted by summerbanksLoading...: 2009-01-06 12:21:29

You can find a large number of Internet websites that will offer the ideal weight for your height. These websites do not take into consideration the other aspects regarding ideal weight. You may find a few that take age into consideration but none that take muscle tone and build.

The amount of muscle on the body plays a big part in the measurement of ideal weight. Muscle is very heavy and can measure as fat when using online calculators. Many of the best bodybuilders will measure as obese with traditional methods. This is simply due to the method of measurement.

Obesity in the United States

Posted by NewMeLoading...: 2009-01-02 14:44:38

The higher prevalence of obesity in the American population as compared with other developed countries has become a disturbing trend that is easily noticed by anyone who has traveled outside the U.S. in recent decades. This observation is borne out dramatically by figures collected by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and presented on their website (www.cdc.gov). From 1985 to 2007, the percentage of the population in most states has gone from an average of less than 10% of the population in most states to an average of 25 to 29% in most states. Is Your Diet Pill Killing You?

Posted by summerbanksLoading...: 2008-12-25 23:08:07

Recent news reports that diet pills are the cause of illness in some cases and death in others. These diet pills are being looked into by the Food and Drug Administration, but what about the diet pills offered over the counter.

Non prescription diet pills are not watched nor approved by the FDA. As long as there are no reported harmful side effects, the pills fall under the radar and no one ever knows how much of this ingredient or that is really in the supplement. Many dieters never think about the long term. They think that the diet pill is okay today and this celebrity or that celebrity ... more

A Healthy Breakfast Leads to Weight Loss

Posted by Bella4Loading...: 2008-12-25 02:10:49

It's a very common misconception that skipping breakfast makes you lose weight. I've done that and I got woozy mid-day. Now I know that not only do I not avoid calories, the body will naturally make up the calorie deficit in other foods eaten throughout the day. Breakfast raises our metabolism after a whole night's fasting meaning we'd have a higher calorie burning capacity. In addition, if you start your day with a healthy breakfast, it becomes easier not to indulge in impulsive snacking.

New Year's Resolution?? Walk More.

Posted by Bella4Loading...: 2008-12-25 02:04:45

Like most of my friends, I intend to lose several pounds this coming year. Have you ever been in competitions for losing the most weight? I haven't been in one and I don't think I'd want to be. I'd want to lose weight for the right reasons...not for a potful of money. And I'd hate to be scrutinized. That's what got me into this mess in the first place.

I've walked 30 mins. each morning for a week and I mean to do it next year until I'm still able to do so. Instead of driving, why not bike or use public transportation? My office is on the 4th floor. I've been taking the stairs too. ... more

Keeping Kids Moving and Healthy During Holiday Breaks

Posted by TrixieLoading...: 2008-12-22 14:04:14

Kids tend to use their holiday breaks as a reason to veg out in front of the television and eat snacks that are far from healthy. Parents fight with the fact that home activities and work often leave them without the ability to monitor their children's activities all of the time. If this is the case in your home, keeping your child active can mean just making a small change in everyday life.

A list hung up on the wall of all the times when children can watch TV, play video games and on the computer is a great way to keep a bit of control in the home. If this is not something you feel will ... more

The Questions You Should Be Asking about Diet Pills

Posted by summerbanksLoading...: 2008-12-03 21:40:45

When you are trying to lose weight, the diet pill can seem like just the right choice. The pills distributors use flashy marketing to make you feel like you will lose all the weight you want and keep it off simply by taking a pill. When researching a new diet pill, many people simply look at the price. A select few will look at the list of ingredients, but nearly none will take the investigation as far as it needs to go. The Food and Drug Administration does not regulate the ingredients in diet pills, so the consumer is the only one left to take care of themselves and that research.
