Pain in the groin area

I pulled a muscle in the genital area but at first I didn't know that it was just that. Before my doctor's appointment, I had imagined the worst. Hernia, inflammation of the lymph glands, kidney stones, a skin infection maybe? I didn't have other symptoms like blood in the urine, fever, or swollen glands. I did do some heavy lifting at the warehouse where I worked so that must have been it, the doctor said. To be sure, I had a urinalysis and a blood test. Both tested negative. Just a pulled muscle..what a relief!

When detected early, most forms of testicular cancer are curable. This is valuable information to note since according to studies, testicular cancer is the most common cancer in men 15- 35 years old.
More common in white men than in black men, testicular cancer first rears its big head as a swelling or a painless lump in the scrotum. The patient could also feel a dull ache in the abdomen or pelvis, pain or a feeling of heaviness in the testicles, and edema in the scrotum.
Once a diagnosis is handed down, the cancer is treated with a combination of surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation ... more

A case of kidney stones isn't a genital disorder per se but it sure is extremely painful when these stones break loose from the kidney and travel through narrow tubes -- the ureters -- to be urinated out.
Take note that kidney stones, which are made of salts and minerals, can be as small as sand grains or as big as a golf ball.
Symptoms include severe pain on one side of the back that may spread to the lower abdomen, groin, and genital area. Other symptoms include blood in the urine, painful or frequent urination, and nausea and vomiting.
If a stone is stuck in a ureter, a long, ... more

Once you become sexually active, there's that possibility of getting diseases due to engaging in risky behavior. Usually, a rash is the first symptom of a sexually transmitted disease. Or it could be a ringworm or yeast infection. Most rashes can be treated at home and don't need medical intervention. But if you're unsure and suspect that you have been exposed to an STD, do not have sexual contact or activity until you have been evaluated by your health professional.
Abstaining from sex will reduce the risk of spreading a possible infection to your sex partner. It's also a necessity to ... more

Since the scrotum and penis are not protected by bones, the genitals are prone to injuries which may be a result of falls, occupational hazards, or recreational activities. And oh is it painful when you receive a forceful hit in that area! Fortunately, that rarely causes permanent damage. If however, there's bruising, pain, swelling, or rashes, it may be a cause for concern and a trip to the doctor is advised.
I have sebaceous cysts all over my back and armpits and just recently, in the scrotum. I've had the cysts in my back taken out -- no biggie. I had it done at the doctor's clinic ... more

The first sign is a change in the color or the thickness of a portion of the skin of the penis. Later, there may be a lump or an ulcer. A persistent discharge is observed, often with a bad smell. The cancer then spreads to the lymph nodes in the groin that become swollen. If you have these signs, go to the doctor. These actually do not necessarily mean that you have cancer. Benign conditions may present this way. But the sooner you receive a diagnosis, the sooner you can start treatment and the more effective your treatment will be.
The doctor will recommend a biopsy to make an accurate ... more

It has bewildered many but when chronic skin disorders in women persist or recur, it may be because of immune dysfunction. There are six common skin disorders of the vulva and vagina. These are allergic contact dermatitis, irritant contact dermatitis, lichen sclerosus, lichen planus, yeast infection, and human papillomavirus.
In some cases, these skin conditions compromise the skin barrier and prevent an adequate immune response to invading microbes. The key is to identify and treat the underlying dermatologic disorder. Often, this corrects the associated immune dysfunction and may ... more

Syphilis is a sexually transmitted bacterial infection that initially causes genital ulcers. If untreated, these ulcers can then lead to more serious symptoms of infection. Syphilis is transmitted through sexual contact with an infected person. Since the bacteria are fragile, the bacteria can't be passed on from eating utensils or through using public toilets, spas, or pools.
In its early stages, syphilis is easy to cure with an injection into the muscle of the antibiotic penicillin. Interestingly, HIV infection and syphilis are linked. Syphilis increases the risk of transmitting as ... more

i think that AIDS continues to be a prevalent threat to the current generation. There has been research on all areas of HIV infection, including prevention strategies, developing and testing preventive HIV vaccines, and new treatments for HIV infection and AIDS-associated opportunistic infections. The focus of research is on identifying new and more effective targets for drugs and vaccines.

I've had my genital warts treated but before I got to that point, I spent countless hours worrying about it before I finally had the guts to go have myself checked.
Genital warts are single or multiple bumps that are soft, moist, or flesh colored and may be raised or flat. These warts are the most recognizable sign of the Human papillomavirus (HPV) virus. These warts, which appear in the genital area within weeks or months after infection, are found in the scrotum or the penis. They're very contagious and can be transmitted through oral, anal or vaginal sex. If you're infected but ... more
