As we grow older, we have to take good care of our eyes or else, we could be at risk of getting macular degeneration, glaucoma and cataracts.
With cataracts, you lose your vision gradually. A poor diet, obesity, and exposure to sunlight may lead to the formation of cataracts.
Food that protects our eyes includes egg yolks, corn, broccoli, green beans, yams, Brussel sprouts, collard greens, cabbage, kale, spinach, carrots, kiwi fruit and honeydew melon.
We have to eat properly, wear sunglasses outdoors, avoid smoking and minimize alcohol intake, and have routine eye exams. These ... more

I have allergic rhinitis and one of its most irritating symptoms is excessive tears. Other possible causes include irritation from a foreign body, conjunctivitis, the common cold, etc. The symptoms that accompany tearing help determine the cause. Itching means that it could be an allergic reaction, nasal pain means that it could be something else entirely. A foreign body sensation may mean that you have dry eyes or corneal abrasion.

A high dose antioxidant vitamin combination plus zinc can prevent or delay the progression of age-related macular degeneration and its associated vision loss. A clinical trial showed that this combination reduced the risk of developing the condition by up to 25%. Not only that, the study also found that higher intakes of vitamin C led to a reduced risk for cortical and nuclear cataracts.
It seems that there's more reason for me to increase my intake of fruits and vegetables. Good sources of vitamin C include grapefruit, oranges, strawberries, papaya, green peppers and tomatoes.

The extensive use of computers is being cited as one of the causes of the increase of eye-focus problems. It isn't surprising to me at all. Anyway, a large new study reports that about half of all American adults don't have 20/20 vision because they are nearsighted, farsighted, or have astigmatism.
The study hypothesizes that the increased amount of near work that we're doing may be increasing the incidence of nearsightedness. Gender differences and age also were factors in the study but there's ... more

How to Treat a Sty

I'm susceptible to getting a sty, you know, that awful looking tender, painful red bump on your eyelid. It's actually caused by a blockage of your oil glands leading to infection.
It can clear up on its own but what I do to speed up the process is apply a warm compress or warm washcloth to the affected area for 10 minutes, four to six times a day. It should not be squeezed to drain it. After several days, if it still doesn't disappear, the doctor tells me to put antibiotic ointments or steroid ointments. For multiple styes, antibiotics taken orally may be prescribed.

Sjögren's one of the things about
Sjögren's is that it is so often misdiagnosed .
Then when it is correctly identified other charateristic
traits such as keratoconjuctivitis sicca have gotten out of
control. As in my case I have lost sight in my left eye.
