What could be more bizarre than becoming emotionally attached to your captors/victimizers? This disorder is associated with kidnap or hostage victims who develop an affinity with the "bad people" and even move to defend them. This is actually a more common condition and is seen with prisoners of war, rape, wife-beating, and child abuse. It's not unusual for a husband, who has beaten his wife to a pulp, be released eventually and who else would welcome him back to the world but his wife.
