Aging can be hard, for men and women both. We all want to keep our looks intact, and our complexions as smooth as possible, as we get older, but it can be difficult to know what products and procedures are best. If you are afraid of plastic surgery, and relatively new, minimally invasive procedures, such as Botox and Restylane, you may want to consider the newest, high-tech skincare instead. There are also a host of tried and true home remedies that can soften your skin for very little money.
Some modern solutions for smoothing aging skin rely on the latest scientific discoveries, but are ... more

Many people try to avoid any discussions about death. Family members think they are taking the pain away from the terminally ill people in their lives by simply not talking about the fact that death is coming. However, thanks to new research, friends and family members may find out avoiding the talk may be hurting the ones they love more than helping them.
Researchers have noted that terminally ill patients show an improved sense of well being after they talk about the fact that the end is coming and is inevitable. The talk does not have to be a talk about the specifics of dying, but can be ... more

If there is one question I wish I knew the total answer to it would probably be this question. When you are young, you have little or no information on how the life you are leading will affect you later in life. What will happen to your body when you grow old? How will the lifestyle you have chosen to lead affect your aging? How about your job and the effect it will have on your life? These are the questions none of the aging population really had the answers to when they were younger, but then again, would we really have listened?
If there is one thing I have learned it is that you need to ... more

Dying is inevitable therefore it's never too early to decide and put in writing how you want your life to end. It's best to prepare a living will indicating if you want to be resuscitated or who you want to decide your treatment if you're unable to speak for yourself. In this will, you'd also have to include whether you'd be willing to donate your organs. As early as now, you may also want to think about the type of treatment you would want...if you want palliative care to keep you comfortable....or if you opt for a curative treatment even when the costs and risks are high. more

The short answer to that question is no. It's a myth that has been accepted by many as a truth because of the many sleep disorders that seniors may have. In fact, the aging population requires the same amount of sleep they had in their 20's.
Insomnia is common because of anxiety, from medication use, or other health issues. The reason may be as simple as frequent urination or it could be as serious as heart ailments. With age, the body clock may adjust itself to early wakeup and early sleeping schedules. Some seniors can't follow this and end up being sleep-deprived. It's important to ... more

Who says that having reached a ripe old age is an accomplishment by itself? I do. It's also a privilege. Animals don't live long enough to show signs of aging. Humans have a different situation. In the 1900's, the average life expectancy was around 50. Infectious diseases killed off many people before they got old. With life expectancy now at 74 for men and 80 for women, coping with an aging population has become a major challenge in the U.S.

According to new research, even if your BMI is within a healthy range, you may have an increased risk of health problems if you carry the majority of your weight around your waist. This is an especially important factor for men you have that tire they try so hard to stay away from.
Even men who are of ideal weight and collect weight around the mid section, can have weight or fat collecting around the organs of the body. The only way to improve overall health is to exercise.
