Sexual Issues And Teens – What To Do If You Discover Your Daughter Is Pregnant

Posted by JakeLoading...: 2009-01-07 21:15:01

It is very upsetting for parents to discover that their teenage children are sexually active. The innocence of childhood is fleeting, especially in the modern age, when children seem to grow up much too fast. TV, the Internet, films, and other media give your teen too much information, too fast. Some girls find themselves pregnant in their teenage years, for a variety of reasons. Birth control like condoms is not infallible, and sometimes teens have sex without taking precautions. When you are young, it seems like you have your whole life ahead of you, and that nothing bad can happen to you. ... more

Television Linked to Teen Pregnancy

Posted by JakeLoading...: 2008-11-14 08:54:14

A new study suggests that teenagers who watch television shows that are sexually charged for mostly are twice as much likely to make others pregnant or get pregnant themselves. However, the study’s results, which were reported in Pediatrics’ November issues do not have any proof that shows sexy programming directly results in pregnancy.
However, Anita Chandra, a Rand Corp researcher, suggests that parents should monitor the programmes watched by their kids.

Chandra added that much of TV content involves characters engaging in activities and talk related to sex, highlight the good ... more

Teen Sex and Presure to Have Sex

Posted by JakeLoading...: 2008-09-01 13:35:48

With the new school year upon us, I have found that the pressures of teen sex are there both in high school and in college. I thought, at first, that college would be different. But, with parties all the time and people exploring their sexuality away from home; there is more sex in college than in adult life.

This is scary to me because I just am not into this scene and I am finding girls are more pushy than guys in most cases. I have chosen to stay away from the parties, stick to the library and tell these girls no all the time.

The confusion is something I guess I sort of expected, but ... more

Be Safe ALL The Time!

Posted by CarmelaLoading...: 2008-08-14 21:11:01

I graduated from being a teen just last year. At 20, I do think I'm a whole lot wiser. Who wouldn't be after what I've been through. I started having sex at 15. He was my boyfriend for 3 years and he was the only one so I never thought about protecting myself. I found out later that he wasn't faithful to me around the same time that I found I had chlamydia. I had to tell my mom and I'd have to say she's the most wonderful mom in the world. She carried me through the whole ordeal. I was treated with antibiotics and I'm okay now. I'm casually dating and taking my time. I'm so thankful I feel ... more

Spring Break Revisited

Posted by JakeLoading...: 2008-04-05 00:49:16

There is nothing like being a teenager and having the freedom to visit someplace great on Spring Break. But, we have all heard the stories about teens having sex and drinking on Spring Break trips. So, what is a virgin to do? Go somewhere not so popular.

There are many Spring Break trips that are uncommon and fantastic. Taking a trip to Alaska, Europe or South America. Try taking a voluntourism trip to make the entire time worthwhile. Or, spend your Spring Break at home, volunteering in the community.

No matter what you decide to do with your Spring Break, one thing is for certain, if you ... more

Being Honest With The Doctor

Posted by JakeLoading...: 2008-03-17 14:40:01

I recently went to the doctors with my sister who is 17 and has been sexually active. When the doctor asked her if she was having sex, she told him no. She was worried that our parents would find out and so she lied.

When speaking to your doctor, they have no right to tell your parents something of this sort. It is important to be totally honest with your doctor when they ask questions like this one.

Sex is not something to be ashamed of, but getting an STD because you lied and you were unsafe, that is not something anyone wants to do.

HPV, STD?

Posted by JakeLoading...: 2008-03-16 03:22:06

HPV is an STD. Even though many parents do not want to admit to the fact that their child or teen could be having sex, this is preventable STD for young women.

Young women are the ones that are most at risk from the effects of HPV. HPV causes cervical cancer and that can not only leave a woman sterile, but can kill if left untreated.

HPV can only be contracted through sex with a male partner, so if your child is nearing the age when sex is on the mind, you should think about allowing them the gift of life with the HPV vaccine.

Teens Have Sex Too!

Posted by JakeLoading...: 2008-03-09 04:06:52

Just because I am a teen does not mean I am a child. At 19 years of age, I have a long term girlfriend and we having recently begun having sex. I have been in college for two years and am, by all definitions, an adult. So why the sharp looks when I ask about teen sex?

When the terms teen and sex come out in the same sentence, many people immediately think 13, 14, 15 years of age. I too believe these teens are too young to be committing the adult act of sex. I was a virgin until 19 to tell you the truth, so I understand why the parents are so shocked.

Just because teens are having sex does ... more

Should Teens Be having Sex?

Posted by JakeLoading...: 2008-03-08 02:16:06

Teen sex is a controversial topic that can bring up heated arguments about choice, education, and parenting.

Teen girls appear to be menstruating earlier in life, which in turn makes them fertile at a younger age. The concern is that a lack of maturity can lead to serious consequences such as pregnancy, STD’s, or both.

If you believe your teen is having sex, talking with them about the true consequences is the only way to get through the basics of sex education. Do not allow the schools to take control of your child's knowledge about sex.

Questions Answered?

Posted by JakeLoading...: 2008-02-12 14:57:03

I have been looking for someplace to ask the questions I have about sex. Being a teen, there are few people that do not look at you like you are an idiot when you ask sex related questions.

Thank you for a place where I will never be judged.

Great article on DIGG by the way.
